Are We Writing More Perspective Series Books?

My co-author (Julie B. Campbell 💜) and I (Amanda Giasson❤️) love writing the Perspective series books. Although it’s also fun to write a stand-alone book (and we’ve certainly enjoyed writing novellas like Thayn Varda: An Early Journal and short stories too) writing a series is an entirely different and gratifying experience. It’s also an experience that comes with series-specific questions asked by our readers. One of the most asked of these being:

Perspective Series Books - Four novels - Love at First Plight, Second Wind, Third Time's a Charmer and So On and So Fourth

How many books will be in the Perspective series?

Being a reader myself, I totally get why this is one of the questions we’re asked the most frequently. Any time I read a book series I like, two thoughts automatically pop into my mind:

  1. I hope there are going to be more books in this series!
  2. How many more books will there be?

If you’re one of our readers (thank you! 😁) who is anxiously awaiting the next book in the Perspective series, here are the short answers to two questions you might have:

Are we writing more Perspective series books?
Yes.

How many more Perspective books will there be?
We don’t know.

If you’re thinking, “What?! You don’t know? How can you not know?”, we get it.

It’s true. We don’t know. We certainly have a general idea, but we don’t yet have a definite number. Why? If you’re interested, keep reading, and I’ll elaborate. ☺️

The Perspective Series Books Were Never Intended to Be a Trilogy

Perspective Series Books - Not a book Trilogy

Initially, after we published Love at First Plightin 2015 and declared it to be the first of many, our fantasy fiction series was frequently and erroneously referred to as a trilogy by others. This drove us bananas! 😂

Though we’d never said our series was a trilogy, at the time, book trilogies (particularly those in the YA category – in which Love at First Plight was categorized at the time) were super-popular. A few of these included: Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy, Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy, the Caraval Series by Stephanie Garber, and Cassandra Clare’s The Infernal Devices trilogy.

We were so happy once we had published So on and So Fourth, because we finally had proof that the Perspective book series wasn’t a trilogy!🤣

Just to be clear, Julie and I have nothing against trilogies hahaha! There are some seriously awesome ones out there that we love (including those mentioned above). A trilogy just wasn’t what we intended for our series. We knew we’d need more than three books to tell the stories of Megan Wynters and Irys Godeleva.

There Will Be More Perspective Series Books…Maybe 6…Maybe 7…8?

For the moment, we’re guesstimating that the Perspective book series will be around seven books when all is said and done.  In all honesty, the number of books depends on how long it takes for us to tell the full tale.

Even though we can’t promise you an exact number, as of the writing of this blog, we can promise that it will be no more or fewer books than the series needs to effectively tell Megan and Irys’ stories as we intend.

When is Perspective Series Book 5 Coming Out?

We do not yet have a release date set, but the book is in the works!

However, there are other exciting releases (with new bonus material!) as well as another companion novella that are coming out in the very near future (but more on that in a later news blog 😉)!
