Hello 2026!
It’s the middle of winter for us Perspective series authors – Amanda Giasson and Julie B. Campbell – and we’re buried in snow up to our eyeballs.🌨️🥶 I (Amanda, here), can’t think of a better time for a Perspective book series 2025 recap, followed by a sneak peek of what’s to come this year.
Sound like your cup of Sylizan tea 🫖(or Kavylak coffee, perhaps ☕)? Settle in and take a trip back in time with Perspective.
Perspective Book Series 2025 Highlights (so much in one year!)
Last year was an exciting year for Perspective*, including events and new merch. Here’s our top highlights.
*New to Perspective? Here’s what the Perspective book series is about (straight to the point and spoiler free)!
Innisfil ideaLAB & Library ComicFEST
Our first event of the year was in April. We were thrilled to return to the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library’s ComicFEST.💥🦸♀️🦹♀️💥 This was the library’s second time holding the annual event and our second time taking part in all the fun as vendors.
As usual, it was a blast cosplaying Perspective series characters. We both decided to be characters from Love at First Plight. I was Lady Camealsa (A.K.A “Lady Cake”), and Julie was Empress Rosledelia.
Just like last year, the free-to-attend, family-friendly, pop culture event was a big success for the library. There was an excellent turnout with plenty of fun activities and cosplayers. Even the local news (Innisfil Today) dropped by and we were among the featured vendors.
The third Innisfil ideaLAB & Library ComicFEST is set to return in April 2026, and we hope to be there!
We Upgraded Our Table Display (better late than never)
After ComicFEST, Julie and I decided it was time to improve both the look and functionality of our vendor table. We switched up our vinyl posters for a newly designed fabric banner.
Using her never-ceases-to-impress-me DIY sewing skills, 🪡💪 Julie sewed the banner to a curtain panel we converted into a table runner. And Voilà! It’s now ten times easier (and faster) to cover our table during setup, and it looks better too.
Now all we need to remember for this year is to give the banner a quick iron before events…otherwise it gets grumpy face.😆⬇️
New Perspective Book Series Merch by Local Artists
One of the most exciting things that happened this year was working with two of our favourite local Canadian artists to create official Perspective book series merchandise!
We got stickers!
In the spring, we commissioned the incredibly talented Rococo Sparkle to design stickers. We decided on four to start: Megan Wynters, Irys Godeleva, the Perspective series logo, and our favourite Qarradune slang – “That’s Crisp”.
As a special bonus, she gifted us with beautiful hand-drawn portraits of Megan and Irys!
We got pins!
In the summer, we asked the amazing (and award-winning) Nerdy Kinda Crafty to create pins inspired by those Megan and Irys stickers we adore. The lightweight, hypoallergenic, Canadian made wood pins they created are absolutely perfect, with shimmery colours to boot!
We couldn’t be happier with our stickers and pins, and both are available for purchase at our table at the events we attend. In the future, we have plans for even more designs and merch.
BPL Comic Fest 2025
When September rolled around, we returned as vendors to the Barrie Public Library’s annual BPL Comic Fest. If this isn’t your first time on the Perspective book series site, then you know that we always have a good time at this event. We’ve been a part of it since 2018 and look forward to it every year.
It’s at BPL Comic Fest where you’re most likely to see us in new Perspective character cosplays, where we announce special news, or debut something new we have to sell.
At last year’s event, we wore costumes inspired by our latest book, Legends of Qarradune. Julie cosplayed as a high-born lady from the Dmevjekyan short story – The Legend of the Grand Ranushdr’s Return to Dmevjekya. I cosplayed as Miss Dasher from the Sylizan short story – The Legend of the Seven-Feathered Crown. Last year’s event was also the first time our stickers and pins were available for purchase from our table.
Another reason we have a particular fondness for BPL Comic Fest is that it’s where we’ve been most fortunate to meet and catch up with other local artists and authors we love, including Wing Nut Cosplay, Nerdy Kinda Crafty, Rococo Sparkle, and Colleen Winter, author of the thrilling science fiction The Gatherer Series (who cosplayed as Storm Freeman, a character from her series).
We can’t wait for BPL Comic Fest in September 2026!
Barrie Public Library Local Author Book Market 2025
In December, we were among many lucky local authors given the opportunity to sell our books at the Barrie Public Library Local Author Book Market. This was our fourth year selling our fantasy series, children’s books, and giving a lightning talk at the event.
Couldn’t make it? Watch our lightning talk now⬇️).
While it’s always a treat to see so many familiar faces, it was great to meet new authors as well, including Victoria Murgante, author of The Traveling Piano Man of Fort Whettershire.
And the icing on the cake was grabbing a picture with CTV’s Mike Arsalides when he popped by to do a piece on the event.
What’s Coming Next for the Perspective Book Series in 2026?
Now that you know what the Perspective book series authors have been up to in 2025, here’s a sneak peak at what we have in store for this year.
- Second Wind turns 10 – Last year was the tenth anniversary of Love at First Plight, now (on March 18th) it’ll be Second Wind’s turn (and we’ll be doing something special to celebrate)!📘🎉
- Events – We love being a part of our favourite events each year (and might just surprise you at some new ones too)!💥💥
- New Perspective character cosplays – This year, Julie and I won’t be the only ones to cosplay as Perspective book series characters. A talented cosplayer will bring to life a wonderful new character from our upcoming novel (and it’s going to be awesome)!👚💗
- A potential new merch partnership – We’ve got something cooking with one of our favourite vendors (and hope to bring you news of it soon)!🤞📰
- Book 5 – Yup, the we-swear-it’s-coming-out-for-realsies-this-time fifth novel in the Perspective series will be released this year (and we’ll be showing off it’s cover as we gear up for its launch in the months to come)!📗😁
We’re super-excited for this year, and we’re looking forward to bringing you more Perspective book series merch and adventures throughout 2026.
Until next time, stay crisp!
❤️💜
